biography

CC SOUND FACTORY is essentially CC and her many many machines! Most people think CC tells her machines what to do but really… it’s the other way around…

Causing a stir in the contemporary electronica scene, CC actually started as a vocalist with a couple of New York indie rock bands that performed in the vibrant downtown Manhattan arts scene. Quite by chance she landed herself a deejay gig and found herself deejaying for the next year or so at exclusive parties and afterhours, a couple of New York clubs and numerous fashion and art gallery events. With a command of dance dynamics, coupled with her vivacious personality, CC has been known to create intense dance atmospheres that keep crowds RAVING on for hours!

When her last band disbanded right after their last gig, however, CC decided that she wasn’t about to wait around for the right people. She was going to find the right MACHINES! And that’s what happened... She got behind console and computer, picked up some rather impressive production chops and churned out her first track, “So Shiok”, which has been described as being “STRIKING in its complexity” as well as “bizarre and unique” (Broadjam Review). This track will be featured in the upcoming French-American feature Soleil Noir (Dark Sun), a dark, haunting yet vibrantly colorful futuristic thriller.

Alternating between performer-producer, CC has been described as a cross between experimental Icelandic singer Bjork and trendsetting electronica genius Moby ("Her sound is a complete mix between Bjork and Moby!", states Bobby Borg, author of 'The Musician's Handbook'). She believes in making genre-defying statements that at the same time do NOT alienate her audience. Even as she experiments relentlessly with different styles and genres, this is one artist who believes that ultimately what's important is to convey "a thought. a word. a feeling." As CC herself declares, “Genres mean nothing and everything to me!”

At times heady and at times exuberantly head-nodding, CC's propelling percussive rhythms drive you through a myriad of sonic textures. Her songs “have engaging melody lines...are adventurous in melodies and arrangements; her vocal delivery has unique appeal... she sings with a great deal of emotion...her trailblazing genre-bending material is beyond easy comparison but dances on the brain's palette uncontrollably..." (Taxi Review).

Currently enjoying airplay on the Magma Fm Syndication Dance Radio Show in Italy, CC has also been featured on the "She Grooves Radio Hour" Show in NY on 88.9 fm and Unsigned Music Mag's "The Best of...Indie Radio Show". Newly named winner of the "Best Music Video" category in the European Video-Art Festival, "DigiFestival" in Italy, CC's video "So Shiok" emerged tops over 80 international entries. This electronic maverick has also scored scores of commercials, amongst them Olympus, Formula One (F1 Powerboat), Jacques Dessange and Watsons. CC's track "So Shiok" has been selected to be included in the TuneTank compilation, “MMC10 Dance 2006" CD, as well as the "ADE '06 Dance Express"(Amsterdam) CD, showcases of "the finest emerging dance/electro artists from all over the world". Recently her track “Breathless” has also been handpicked to be included in the New Music Series 2007.
